Forget balloons, cakes, and confetti: The gender reveal lasagna has arrived!
Villa Italian Kitchen launched the cheesy new dish on Tuesday, Jan. 22, and just like that, the #LasagnaReveal became a thing. The gender reveal lasagna has a pink or blue interior based on the gender of your baby-to-be. So in that sense, it's just like the gender reveal cake—only cheesier, much cheesier.
According to the New York Post, the catering package—which includes the gender reveal lasagna, garlic rolls, and salad—serves 12 people and costs $140. It's available from select Villa Italian Kitchen locations and made with authentic Italian pasta, Alfredo sauce and both ricotta and mozzarella cheese.
People on the Internet had plenty of opinions, and some wondered if the gender reveal lasagna was indicative of parents-to-be taking the whole gender reveal thing just a tad too far.
But, hey, to each their own. Parents-to-be have come up with all kinds of clever ways to reveal whether they're having a boy or a girl. One Minneapolis-based couple found out their baby-to-be's gender by biting into a burger. The twosome slipped the waiter an envelope containing the baby's gender and asked her to put corresponding cheese in their burgers: Pepper jack cheese signified a baby boy, while yellow cheddar represented a girl. This mom and dad-to-be didn't dye the cheese, though, which we must say, makes all the difference.
Another expectant mom dyed her hair for an epic gender reveal. One couple used silly string, another used jelly beans and one had a colorful paint fight. And of course, there are some parents-to-be who choose to forego the whole gender reveal shebang entirely.
There's no right or wrong way to do (or not do) a gender reveal. Personally, we like cake, but we're not going to pass on pasta or spoil the fun if we're invited to someone else's cheesy #LasagnaReveal.
