Problem Solving

The following games all use a United States map puzzle that has each state on its own piece (and, for the last game, shows the capitals). The three are presented from easiest to most advanced; players vie to earn the most points, so a few small prizes will add to the fun.

1. Geo-hunt

One player hides the pieces in plain sight around the house. The other players search for them, earning points for every piece they can return to its correct place on the puzzle.

2. Ten questions

A player draws a puzzle piece out of a grab bag, hiding it from the group. The others may ask up to ten yes-or-no questions about the state before trying to guess it. When a player guesses correctly, he places the state on the map and gets a point.

3. Capital crunch

Drawing a state from a grab bag, one player announces the state's name. The first to call out the correct capital places the piece on the map and earns a point.
